Homemade Sticky Oven Baby Back Ribs (Apartment Safe!)

February 10, 2021 by Veronica 2 Comments

Cooking ribs in an apartment is intimidating and supposedly messy, or so I thought. This recipe is actually super simple and easy, you only need patience and plenty of time, no extra skills required. Ah, and a good barbecue sauce! For these ribs I made a trip to the local butcher shop and I suggest you do too!

There are plenty of recipes online for making ribs at home in the oven and it gets confusing after reading ten different recipes with ten different temperatures.

In the end, I followed my gut, went for the slowest temperature I could, mixed my favorite spices and the result was amazing. I think the pictures speak for themselves 🙂

The only rib recipe you will ever need. They simply don't get any easier or better than this!
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 4 hours
Servings
1 rack of ribs
Ingredients
  • 1 slab baby back ribs I made two! so doubled the spices
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • plenty salt and black pepper
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce store bought or homemade
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 4 hours
Servings
1 rack of ribs
Ingredients
  • 1 slab baby back ribs I made two! so doubled the spices
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • plenty salt and black pepper
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce store bought or homemade
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 107°C.
  2. In a small bowl, mix your spices. Season your ribs with the seasoning by rubbing it in as much as you can. You want the ribs to be absolutely covered to the point you can't see any meat. (Or that's how I like it, is it too spicy?!)
  3. Cover the baking dishes with aluminum foil and place in the oven. I covered the ribs separately in aluminum foil because the baking tray was too large to cover it at once.
  4. Let the ribs cook for about 3.5 - 4 hours. After 4 hours, add layers of BBQ sauce on the ribs and return to the oven uncovered for an additional 30 minutes. At the end, I like to broil them for 3-4 minutes for that extra burnt/crispy look.
  5. Remove from oven and be amazed!
